What’s a sound bath?

If you’ve never attended a sound bath or have never even heard the term then this is an experience you don’t want to miss especially as a professional musician. As artists we spend so much time playing and making music and this is a chance to let sound play you.

A sound bath is not a performance but a shared sonic experience where crystal singing bowls, gongs and tuning forks are played in a harmonic arrangement encouraging many therapeutic results and can create shifts in our bodies that allow for new space and possibility including opening creative potential. Our bodies experience sound through so much more than what is audible to our ears. Sound and vibration are felt through our skin, in our bones and deep within the nervous system. Through hearing and feeling the harmonic vibrations of sound, the body is able to enter deeper states of rest that help with relaxation, stress reduction, expand feelings of well being and profound states of creative awareness.

More about Sound Baths

Sound has been utilized in various cultures for thousands of years as a tool for healing. Sound can bring balance, relaxation and a sense of wholeness to the body. It often leads to new states of meditative awareness not normally accessible. This is because the sound of harmonic vibrations created by singing bowls, gongs, tuning forks and other sound healing instruments can signal the nervous system to downshift into a parasympathetic state while stimulating alpha, theta and delta brain waves. These waves are associated with deep intuition, creativity and and peaceful feelings that are highly tuned to self healing and can bring our subtle bodies into a state of balance.

What to Expect

Lying down or seated, listeners are guided through gentle relaxation techniques that may include safe and simple breath work, and guided visualizations. During the session you will be bathed in an immersive intuitive soundscape created with a harmonic selection of overtone-emitting instruments that may include crystal alchemy and Himalayan singing bowls, chimes, mallet percussion instruments, rattles, gongs, tuning forks, shruti box and voice.
